The main idea behind the projects is to develop a website to help get started with contributing to open source and which Open Source Project to contribute in. The project is in the initial phase and will be suitable for contribution from both beginners as well as those who have some experience. The website will be developed using with the help of GitHub API. It will consist of a getting started with open source guide to learn all the basics required from how to make pull requests to solving merge conflicts to cherry picking etc. interactively. It will help you find projects or projects of a specific organisation on the basis of the your searched skill set or searched language i.e. it will help you find the project that is the best feed according to your needs.
This website aims at providing details about the various open source projects as well as the following:
- Interactive Guide to contributing to open source
- Filter out the most popular projects according to your search on the basis of language or organisation
- Subscribe to your favourite projects and get notified about latest issues and pull requests
- Contribution difficulty level of project
- Pull request acceptance rate of the project
- Version Control System the project is build upon
- Communication channels related to the project such as gitter, slack
- User base of the project
The following people will also be available for guiding students during the duration of the program:
