    ******* Finished making our talk for Pycoza on contributing to open source.
    ******* We also prepared for the rails girls kampala training lesson for tomorrow.
    ******* We gave a talk about our rails girls summer of code experience.
    ******* We also had a time off with friends to reflect our summer of code.

    ******* Prepare our last blog..
    ******* Continue with rails girls kampala trainings

    We will continue contributing to qutebrowser and open source in general .We think the future presents limitless possibilities for us.

    ******* Finally cracked the tests and all reviews and now PR for issue 1758 is ready to be merged
    ******* Continued working on issue 1768 and we shall make a PR this week

  • Day 60: Commits to the PR and held RGK

    What we did Today

    ******* Made significant commits to PR for issue 1758. We got alot of feedabak/review of the code. We started working on the reviews today shall do more tomorrow and make more commits to the PR
    ******* We conducted conducted a thirds session for RGK. We didadvanced Ruby today. It was totally awesome :)

  • Day 52: Public Holiday in Uganda, Confirmation of new issue

    There is an issue one of the contributors was previously interested in, but today he confirmed that he was not working on it. We were therefore given a go ahead to work on the issue

    Today was a public holiday in Uganda, IDD day. Therefore offices were closed, we couldn't work.

    Tomorrow.

    We will continue working on issue 1768 and also begin work on the new issue.

  • Day 51: PR for issue 1703 merged, more work on #1768

    Today issue 1703 was finalised and all the reviews worked upon. The issue was merged into master.

    We also continued working on issue 1768.
    We also created a google group for the Rails girls Kampala attendees. Made preparations for the next meetup.

    Next week activities

    Finish up issue 1768.
    Read more Ruby and hold the meetup on Thursday.
    Get a new issue from mentor to work on

  • Day 49 : PR for issue #1516 finally merged , more work on issue #1703 and started on issue #1768

    What we did Today

    ******* Today we worked on a few edits to our talk proposal for pyconZA following review by the evaluation team. We submitted and are waiting for feedback on the same.
    ******* PR for issue 1516 was finally merged.
    ******* Continued working on issue 1703.
    ******* Started working on issue 1768.
    ******* For house keeping , we also updated our trello board assigning tasks and updating tasks.

    What we Learnt

    ******* Revisited a few ruby on rails programming basics as we prepare to do the rails girls kampala trainings tomorrow..
    ******* We also learnt from the merged PR that projects are not just made of feature code(code to make a feature) ..there is documentation..and tests that are supposed to be released with the code

    ******* Continue working on issue1703.

  • Day 48 : PR #1899 ready to merge and more coding for issue #1703

    What we did Today

    ******* Today we worked on and submitted our talk proposal for pyconZA.
    ******* Got feedback for PR for issue #1516 .. It is now pending some final investigations then merge.
    ******* Continued working on issue #1703.
    ******* Began digging into issue #1768 to understand its goal and what should be achieved. We will engage mentor if he confirms merging PR #1899.

    What we Learnt

    ******* Revisited a few ruby on rails programming basics as we prepare to do the rails girls kampala trainings.

    ******* Continue working on issue 1703.
    ******* Begin on issue 1768 if no interruptions for work on PR #1899.

  • Day 47 :More coding for issue #1703 and PR review for #1899

    What we did Today

    ******* We worked on issues from review of PR 1899. We were able to make a working commit with a few corrections to variable names (from mentor's advise) and removal of a line we had added for debug purposes that was not supposed to be in the code. There were also some pylint warnings on too many branches which we were advised to ignore by our mentor. The changes to address the reviews were also committed. We are now waiting for the mentor's feedback.
    ******* We also continued our work on issue 1703 and hope to close it this week.

    What we Learnt

    ******* We also learnt how to squash commits for changes made on the remote repository and why we need to rebase using Git.
    ******* We also noticed the importance of revisiting error logs and reading them carefully this in turn helped us to easily know what was wrong with the code we were commiting.

    What we will do tomorrow

    ******* Continue working on issue 1703.
    ******* Get feedback from PR review and if positive we start on another issue.

  • Day 44: coding and learning continues

    Today we continued working on issue 1703 and 1516.
    We don't have big milestones but hopefully tomorrow we shall make commits. We read about argparse in python. We also read about decorators and metaprogramming in python.

    Tomorrow we shall read about rebasing in git and also we shall make à PR for issue 1703 and commitls for thé PR for issue 1516

  • Day 43: Meeting with Supervisor, Coding and learning continues

    ******* We also continued working on issue 1703 in course of which we did more digging into the code base and also read about argparse more deeply
    ******* We closed our day with an amazing and sweet chat with our supervisor :)
